Allergens

Some Leonidas products contain allergens (such as gluten or nuts). If you have a food allergy, just send us an email, and we’ll be happy to let you know which chocolates you can enjoy without triggering your specific allergy. In short:

Eggs and egg derivatives (albumen)

Leonidas products do not contain eggs, except for jellies, and lemon and orange slices.

Gluten

Gluten is a molecule found in cereals like wheat, barley, oats, and their derivatives such as malt and starch. Some Leonidas products are made with gluten-containing ingredients and may, therefore, contain traces of gluten.

Nuts

All our products may contain traces of nuts. Many Leonidas products contain nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, etc.).

Milk (lactose, milk proteins, etc.)

Dairy products are naturally essential ingredients in the making of some Leonidas products. The procedures ensuring the quality of Leonidas products require that equipment be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed between different production cycles, for example, when changing chocolate types. Despite the implementation of these strict production practices, traces of milk proteins may be found in some of our dark chocolates. The American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the CFA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) have identified milk proteins as allergenic agents. Nevertheless, analysis methods have recently shown manufacturers that milk proteins can be detected in minute quantities. For its customers’ peace of mind, Leonidas prints the following statement on all its packages after the ingredient list: “may contain traces of milk proteins.”
